MQM-P Threatens Protests Over Unimplemented Karachi Development Agreement

MQM-P senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar has issued a stern warning that the party will resort to street protests and move to the opposition benches if the federal government fails to implement the 18-point agreement signed with the PPP in 2022 for Karachi's development. The agreement, which was signed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, remains unfulfilled despite repeated reminders from MQM-P.Sattar accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of being a guarantor of the deal and demanded his personal intervention to ensure implementation. The party emphasized that the agreement focuses solely on Karachi's construction and development without seeking administrative powers.

Sattar also highlighted the government's failure to provide 40% of the quota share allocated to MQM-P, accusing officials of using fake domiciles to secure jobs under the party's quota.

He criticized the government for operating outside constitutional bounds and called for the enactment of a local government law to address Karachi's issues.

Additionally, Sattar demanded the return of MQM-P's governorship and a referendum to make Karachi a separate administrative unit, while rejecting calls for governor's rule. The party's demands reflect growing frustration over delayed development projects and perceived injustices in quota systems.
