The national government has pledged an additional P20 million in financial assistance to support the rehabilitation efforts for communities affected by the earthquake in South Cotabato province.

This announcement was made on July 18 during the province's 60th founding anniversary celebration, which also marked the closing of the 27th T'nalak Festival.

Undersecretary Athalia Leong, representing the Office of the Special Assistant to the President, highlighted that the funding was secured through the collaborative efforts of South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, House Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez, and the OSAP with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Leong emphasized that this aid demonstrates Malacañang's ongoing commitment to helping local government units and residents recover from natural disasters.The OSAP views South Cotabato as a key partner in building stronger communities and enhancing government services.The provincial government's unity and dedication to public service were also praised as a model for other areas.The event featured remarks from Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, who spoke about the importance of unity across Mindanao.He drew parallels between the T'nalak cloth's interwoven design and the collective strength needed in the region.

This additional support comes as the province continues to deal with the aftermath of the earthquake, aiming to aid in recovery and rebuilding damaged infrastructure and communities.
