The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has formally requested documents and reports from the Commission on Audit (COA) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate alleged irregularities in the Philippines' hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

The probe, led by the newly established 'Task Force Cash Cow,' aims to scrutinize financial anomalies, procurement activities, and potential violations of anti-graft laws linked to the Philippine Sea Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The NBI's request includes COA audit reports covering the 2019 SEA Games and PHISGOC, as well as SEC records on the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee Foundation Inc.from 2017 to the present.These documents are critical for verifying findings, tracing fund flows, and establishing facts in the investigation.

The bureau emphasized that the probe follows 'new information and documents' received, highlighting concerns over potential corruption and misuse of public funds during the event.
