The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has identified individuals under scrutiny connected to an alleged threat against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to Director Melvin Matibag.

During Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, Matibag testified that a special task force was established to investigate the claim that Duterte allegedly hired someone to kill Marcos and others if she died.He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with leads being pursued and persons of interest already identified.

Matibag stated that the alleged threat has evolved into a 'confession' as Duterte reportedly admitted speaking to an individual who agreed to carry out the attack.

Defense counsel Mark Vinluan contested Matibag's use of legal terminology, arguing it constituted a conclusion of law, but the impeachment court ruled the testimony remains part of the record without being considered a legal judgment.The case highlights tensions within Philippine politics and the scrutiny surrounding Duterte's alleged actions.
