The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has formed a specialized task force called 'Task Force Cash Cow' to examine potential irregularities in the Philippines' management of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag revealed that the team, comprising key units like the Public Corruption Division and Special Action Unit, will investigate how P6.7 billion in government funds were allocated to the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).The probe follows new evidence suggesting discrepancies in procurement processes linked to the event.Subpoenas have been issued to seven individuals, some of whom are expected to appear for questioning.

Matibag emphasized the importance of verifying documentation with agencies like the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).The investigation aims to address concerns about transparency and accountability in public spending related to major national events.
