The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has praised Brentex Petroleum Services Limited for the progress recorded on its $50 million Steel Pipe Induction Bending and Coating Facility located at the Federal Ocean Terminal, Onne Port, Rivers State.

During an inspection visit, the Board described the project as a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s local oil and gas manufacturing capacity and reducing dependence on imported engineering services.

According to the NCDMB, the facility has already attracted more than $26 million in investment and is expected to become Africa’s first fully integrated plant for 2-inch to 48-inch steel pipe induction bending and coating when completed.

The Board’s Executive Secretary, represented by senior officials, commended Brentex for its long-term commitment to Nigerian Content objectives and assured the company of continued support, including encouraging operators in the industry to patronise the facility.

Brentex’s Managing Director, Chidi Nzerem, appreciated the Board’s support over the last decade and said the project aligns with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.He added that the facility is expected to become fully operational in the last quarter of 2027.

The company also disclosed plans to work with the NCDMB on training programmes after certification, with about 200 engineers and technical personnel expected to be employed.

Brentex’s Project Manager explained that the facility will provide local pipe induction bending, coating and repair services, helping to reduce imports, lower project costs, shorten delivery timelines and retain more value within Nigeria’s economy.

The project is also expected to support major energy infrastructure projects, including the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, while improving local technical capacity and creating long-term employment opportunities.
