Presidency Denies Viral Claim That President Tinubu Converted to Christianity
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved waivers for former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, allowing both politicians to contest senatorial seats under its platform in the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, Omo-Agege has been cleared to contest for the Delta Central Senatorial District, while Ochei will be contesting for the Delta North Senatorial seat.
This development comes shortly after Omo-Agege officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) following weeks of speculation about his political future.He subsequently joined the NDC, where he was welcomed alongside other high-profile politicians.
The party explained that the waivers were granted in recognition of their political experience, leadership capacity, and strong grassroots influence across Delta State.
In a statement issued by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party leadership expressed confidence that both men have the competence and support base needed to deliver effective representation to their constituents.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, inclusion, and transparency, noting that it aims to build a stronger political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.Omo-Agege, in his remarks after joining the NDC, said his decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders and supporters.He described the move as a response to calls for renewed leadership in Delta State and Nigeria.He also praised key figures within the NDC for their engagement during his defection process, expressing confidence in the party’s direction.
He further declared his intention to contest the Delta Central Senate seat, promising to focus on job creation, infrastructure development, and accountability if elected.
Both politicians are expected to play significant roles in strengthening the NDC structure in Delta State as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
