The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of the NEET UG 2026 examination on July 16 following the re-examination conducted on June 21.The retest was organised after the original examination held on May 3 was cancelled because of an alleged paper leak.Around 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-exam, with 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied courses across the country.One of the key highlights of this year's results was the strong performance by women candidates.More than 58 per cent of all qualified candidates are women, and their qualifying rate stood at 56.8 per cent compared with 55.1 per cent for men.Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana jointly secured the highest score of 715 out of 720.The examination was conducted at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.According to the NTA, the majority of the highest-scoring candidates were between 17 and 19 years of age.

Among the top performers, 138 candidates scored above 690 marks, over 93 per cent were appearing for NEET UG for the first time, and 99 per cent belonged to the 17-19 age group.

The score distribution also showed that 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, 1,492 scored 650 or above, 10,160 scored 600 or above, and 90,780 candidates secured at least 500 marks.Candidates can download their scorecards by logging into the official NEET website using their application credentials.
