UNESCO and Japan provide ICT equipment to 15 Nigerian Colleges of Education to boost teacher training in Nigeria
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has approved the promotion of a total of 17,952 junior officers within the Nigeria Police Force in a major nationwide exercise aimed at boosting morale and strengthening the institution.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the promotions cut across several ranks, reflecting a structured career advancement process within the police system.
Specifically, 165 Sergeants were elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals were promoted to Sergeants, while the majority, 17,714 Constables, moved up to the rank of Corporal.
The police leadership explained that timely promotion remains a key part of human resource management within the Force, as it helps to motivate officers and encourage better performance in carrying out their constitutional duties.
The IGP, identified as Tunde Disu in the statement, emphasized that the exercise reflects the current leadership’s commitment to merit-based advancement, professional development, and institutional strengthening.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their elevation not just as a reward but as a call to higher responsibility, discipline, professionalism, and improved service delivery to the public.
The IGP further reminded them of the importance of upholding the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, including integrity, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.
The statement also reiterated that the Force remains committed to rewarding hard work, promoting excellence, and aligning its practices with global standards in modern policing.This development is expected to boost morale across the ranks and improve overall efficiency in policing operations nationwide.
