The Nigerian Army held a special luncheon at the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State, to honour soldiers injured during counter-terrorism operations.

The event, part of 2026 Army Day celebrations, recognised the courage and sacrifices of troops who sustained injuries while fighting insurgents in the North-East.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of the North-East Joint Task Force, highlighted that the luncheon was not just ceremonial but a way to acknowledge the frontline soldiers' contributions.He stressed that every security achievement came at a cost paid by the soldiers.Brigadier General Solomon Diwa described the soldiers' injuries as 'badges of honour,' emphasizing their bravery.The Army assured continued support for the wounded, including medical care and rehabilitation.The event also acknowledged the families of the injured and praised medical personnel for their role in recovery.This gesture underscores the military's commitment to remembering fallen soldiers and supporting their families.The luncheon aimed to highlight the ongoing sacrifices of troops in maintaining national security against groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.
