A 35-year-old administrative staff member at Gilgandra Public School in New South Wales has been arrested and charged with distributing child abuse material following a police raid.Lucy McKenzie was taken into custody on Tuesday after detectives executed a search warrant at her home.She faces four counts of using digital platforms to share illegal content and an additional charge of obstructing police.The investigation, part of Strike Force Trawler, targets online exploitation of children through telecommunications services.Police confirmed the operation began in early July 2026 after receiving intelligence about an account linked to the Central West region.McKenzie was denied bail and is set to appear in court on September 7.

The NSW Department of Education immediately terminated her employment, stating the department prioritizes the safety of students and will take swift action against criminal conduct by staff.

The case highlights ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation and underscores the seriousness with which authorities and educational institutions treat such allegations.
