The Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF) has condemned the disciplinary action taken against a nurse at Kaduna Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital over social media comments, calling it an abuse of power and violation of constitutional rights.

The nurse, Mary Lally Anthony, received a query letter from the hospital's administration accusing her of making 'foul language' remarks about the institution and its Medical Director.

ENF argues this violates Section 39(1) of Nigeria's Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression for all citizens, including public servants.

The group demands an independent investigation into the Medical Director's conduct, citing a pattern of intimidation and anti-union practices against healthcare workers.

They also link this incident to previous suspensions of union leaders, accusing administrators of using disciplinary measures to suppress legitimate trade union activities.

ENF urges federal authorities and international bodies like WHO and UNICEF to intervene, stressing that nurses' dignity and rights must be protected under the law.
