Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly denied allegations by ex-Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba that he deceived AD governors and Afenifere leaders ahead of the 2003 elections.In a detailed letter, Obasanjo called Osoba's claims 'farfetched' and accused him of spreading inaccuracies.He emphasized that he never engaged in tribal politics or misled anyone, rejecting suggestions that he sought political favors from regional leaders.Obasanjo also dismissed Osoba's account of a secret meeting with AD governors at his farm, calling it a fabrication.He argued that six governors from one region couldn't dictate terms to a sitting president backed by national institutions.The former leader defended his political outreach as a move for national unity, not weakness.He also alleged that the AD governors had a separate deal with Atiku Abubakar, which led to their electoral losses in 2003.Despite the criticism, Obasanjo praised Osoba for allocating land for his presidential library in Abeokuta.
