Okporowo Vanguard Supports Boat Mishap Victims and Families in Ogbakiri with Financial Aid

A socio-cultural group known as Okporowo Vanguard has extended sympathy and financial assistance to victims and families affected by a recent boat mishap in Okporowo-Ogbakiri Community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.During a condolence and solidarity visit led by the group’s chairman, Hon.Israel Emeji, the organisation expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and prayed for the recovery of the sole survivor, Mrs Bridget Lucky-Amadi.She received N100,000 to help with medical treatment and recovery costs.The group also visited families who lost loved ones in the mishap.The family of the late Mrs.

Chituru Emmanuel received N200,000 to support burial arrangements, while the Elenga family, which lost three members, received separate donations of N200,000 each for two deceased relatives.Another family, that of the late Nneoma Promise Wodi, also got N200,000 for burial expenses.In addition, the organisation gave N100,000 to community youths who participated actively in rescue and recovery operations during the tragic event.

Beneficiaries, including the survivor and bereaved families, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a show of compassion, unity, and support during a very difficult period.The group emphasised that its intervention was driven by empathy and a desire to ease the financial and emotional burden caused by the accident.The visits also included words of condolence, prayers, and encouragement for the affected families to remain strong in the face of their loss.

The initiative highlights community solidarity in times of crisis and the role of local organisations in supporting disaster victims and strengthening social bonds in rural areas.
