Dr.Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has been confirmed as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after the party completed its affirmation process across several states.The exercise was not a competitive primary, but a formal endorsement of his candidature by party members.Reports from participating states showed that he received 423,902 affirmative votes in total, showing strong backing within the party structure.Jigawa State recorded the highest number with 198,200 votes, followed by Kano State with 124,101.Other notable returns came from Nasarawa, Kebbi, Kwara, and Lagos states.The process was presented as a democratic show of support for Hashim, who had already declared his intention to run on the Accord Party platform.

His emergence comes after he publicly signalled a fresh presidential bid and said his political movement had mobilised substantial support into the party.The development positions him as one of the key figures in the early build-up to the 2027 presidential race.It also suggests that Accord Party is seeking to strengthen its national profile by fielding a prominent candidate with a growing support base.
