Isah Ashiru emerges Kaduna ADC governorship candidate amid Sani’s rejection
Professor Jerome Nyameh, the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Taraba State, has promised to adopt a more hands-on and locally present style of leadership if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an engagement with party supporters and stakeholders, Nyameh stressed that he would operate as a “resident governor,” meaning he would remain within the state for most of his tenure instead of spending long periods outside the state on official trips.
According to him, effective governance requires constant physical presence in order to properly monitor government activities, supervise projects, and maintain direct contact with citizens across different communities.
He explained that one of the major problems affecting governance in many states is the absence of leaders who are physically available to respond quickly to the needs of the people.
Nyameh said his administration would prioritise accessibility, accountability, and transparency, ensuring that government decisions and spending directly benefit ordinary citizens.
He further highlighted key areas of focus such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and job creation, noting that Taraba State has abundant human and natural resources that can be used to improve living standards if properly managed. He also pledged prudent use of public funds and a governance approach that strengthens institutions and reduces waste.
Political observers believe his promise may appeal to voters who have long demanded closer interaction with their leaders and better supervision of government projects.
As the 2027 election season gradually approaches, Nyameh’s declaration is expected to shape political conversations in the state as residents evaluate different candidates and their proposed leadership styles.
