Senator Emmanuel Bwacha confirmed as PDP governorship candidate for Taraba State

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, former Deputy Senate Minority Leader, has been confirmed as the sole governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 general election in Taraba State.

The affirmation exercise took place on Monday at Shield Hotel in Jalingo, and it was conducted under the supervision of the PDP State Working Committee alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ensuring compliance with electoral procedures.

According to the PDP State Legal Adviser, Muhammad Danlami, the process followed the provisions of Section 87(3) of the Electoral Act, which allows a political party to adopt a consensus or affirmation method when there is only one aspirant for a position, provided internal party guidelines are respected.

After his affirmation, Senator Bwacha addressed party members and supporters, emphasising that his political mission is centred on unity, purposeful leadership, and addressing governance gaps in Taraba State.

He outlined key areas his administration would focus on if elected, including infrastructure development, youth empowerment, education, and agricultural transformation, which he described as critical to the state's progress. He also promised to run an inclusive government that gives all citizens a sense of belonging.

Bwacha further cautioned voters against transactional politics, warning against politicians who attempt to influence elections with money, and urged the electorate to vote based on conscience and long-term development priorities rather than short-term gains.

He also noted that his return to the PDP was a strategic move aimed at strengthening party unity, expressing optimism that early preparation and consultations would help the party perform better in the upcoming election cycle.
