The Office of the Ombudsman has filed a plunder case against Senator Rodante Marcoleta, alleging he received P75 million in undeclared campaign contributions.The case was filed after the senator's rally supporting the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) and his public acknowledgment of receiving the donations.

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla emphasized that the law must prevail, stating the evidence includes three cash donations totaling P75 million not declared in Marcoleta's SALN and campaign finance reports.The Ombudsman acknowledged the case sparked public debate but stressed that facts and legal procedures should determine the outcome.

Marcoleta, representing the SAGIP party-list, claimed the accusations are part of a plan to silence him, but he insisted he remains innocent and will defend himself in court.

The case highlights tensions between public accountability and political dissent, with the Ombudsman reaffirming their commitment to enforcing the law regardless of personal connections or political influence.
