Political controversy over depiction of Thiruvalluvar in saffron attire in Tamil Nadu
Leaders from several opposition parties in Tamil Nadu strongly criticised the ruling TVK government headed by Chief Minister C.Joseph Vijay over the recent rise in crimes and alleged deterioration of the law and order situation in the State.
Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin questioned the government’s response to crimes against women and children and accused the administration of failing to maintain public safety.
Referring to multiple incidents reported across Tamil Nadu, including murders, sexual assault cases and attacks involving alleged criminal gangs, he claimed that the State had witnessed 25 murders, four double murders and 19 sexual assault incidents within just 15 days.He also criticised the government for what he described as silence and inaction from the Chief Minister.AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K.
Palaniswami also attacked the government, citing incidents involving alleged harassment by ruling party functionaries and raising concerns over public safety and governance failures.
He referred to the deaths of a couple in Salem district after heavy rain caused flooding in a railway subway and alleged that negligence by authorities contributed to the tragedy.
Palaniswami further accused ruling party members of intimidating government employees and criticised the Chief Minister for avoiding direct media interaction.AMMK founder T.T.V.Dhinakaran and BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran also condemned the government over incidents of sexual assault and violent crime.Both leaders questioned whether the promises of better governance made before the elections were being fulfilled.
The criticism reflects growing political pressure on the TVK government over its handling of crime, public safety and administrative accountability in Tamil Nadu.
