DevReporting, in partnership with the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), has launched a training and story grant program for journalists in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.The initiative, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, aims to strengthen accountability reporting on governance, transparency, and public finance.

The program comes amid a prolonged leadership crisis in Osun's 30 local government areas and the Modakeke Area Council, which has hampered effective governance.Participants will receive training to enhance their investigative skills and produce commissioned stories on development issues.The grant supports journalists to conduct in-depth reporting on corruption, public service delivery, and civic engagement.The deadline for applications is 12 July 2026, with shortlisted applicants expected to publish their stories within eight weeks.This initiative underscores the importance of independent journalism in promoting democratic accountability and good governance in Osun.The program also aligns with CJID's mission to support media innovation and sustainable journalism across Nigeria.

By empowering journalists with resources and training, the initiative seeks to improve the quality of news coverage and foster public trust in institutions.
