PM Shehbaz Sharif highlights Youm-e-Takbeer as symbol of Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence, unity and sovereignty
Pakistan and China have once again reaffirmed their long-standing strategic partnership by agreeing to deepen military cooperation and strengthen defence coordination.
According to a briefing by Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Jiang Bin, both countries described their relationship as an “iron-clad friendship” built on trust, mutual support, and shared strategic interests.
The comments were made during a monthly press briefing in Beijing, where he highlighted recent high-level engagements between the two sides, including discussions held during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to China.
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan and China have consistently worked closely in areas such as strategic communication, joint military exercises, training programmes, personnel exchanges, and defence equipment and technology collaboration.
He noted that joint exercises conducted by the armies, navies, and air forces of both countries, including ‘Warriors’, ‘Ocean Guards’, and ‘Eagles’, have become key pillars of their defence cooperation framework.
Colonel Jiang Bin also stated that both countries are committed to further enhancing military-to-military relations under the guidance of their leadership.He added that the partnership has remained strong for over 75 years of diplomatic ties and has withstood global political changes.
Both sides expressed willingness to continue supporting each other on core national interests and to work together for regional and global peace, development, and security.
The relationship was further described in strong cultural terms, with references to China-Pakistan friendship being “higher than mountains and deeper than oceans,” and Pakistan being affectionately referred to as “Iron Pakistan” in China.
