Pakistan and the United States have made notable advancements in negotiations for a reciprocal trade agreement, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.The two-day talks in Washington DC, led by Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul, focused on resolving tariff disputes and expanding economic collaboration.

Both nations aim to finalize the agreement to address trade barriers, with proposed US duties on Pakistani exports reduced from 29% to 19% by August 2025.The discussions also covered broader areas like energy, IT, mining, and investment.Pakistan, facing Section 301 investigations over labor practices, has submitted detailed responses to US trade concerns.

The agreement underscores the importance of bilateral trade, with the US being Pakistan's largest export market and Pakistan the second-largest importer of US cotton.Officials emphasized the need for continued cooperation in critical minerals, energy development, and emerging sectors to strengthen economic ties.
