The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), together with local police units, carried out two separate anti-drug operations in Mindanao that resulted in the seizure of around two kilograms of suspected shabu valued at P13.6 million.

In the first operation conducted in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), PDEA-BARMM operatives arrested a tricycle driver identified as Jaylani Talib Amin during a buy-bust operation on May 31, 2026.Authorities said the suspect was allegedly caught selling a kilo of shabu worth approximately P6.8 million along a public thoroughfare in Barangay Poblacion. The operation was supported by local government officials and police units, and the suspect was immediately taken into custody.PDEA-BARMM officials credited the cooperation of municipal and provincial leaders for the success of the operation.

In a separate operation in Zamboanga City, Region 9, PDEA operatives and police arrested three alleged drug dealers during a buy-bust operation conducted on May 30, 2026 in Barangay Canelar.Authorities confiscated another kilo of suspected shabu worth around P6.8 million.

The identities of the suspects were withheld as investigators continue efforts to identify and track down possible accomplices linked to a wider drug distribution network in the area.

According to PDEA Region 9, the operation was made possible through coordination with barangay officials, city authorities, and confidential informants who provided critical intelligence. Both groups of suspects are now in custody and are facing charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities emphasized that sustained cooperation between law enforcement agencies and local government units remains essential in intensifying the government’s anti-drug campaign in Mindanao.
