Thugs attack PDP faction meeting in Abuja after Jonathan’s 2027 candidacy ratification
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State has officially announced the winner of its governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.The exercise was conducted on Sunday in Katsina and was overseen by the PDP Governorship Primary Election Committee chaired by Nuradeen Sani.
According to the committee, the process was carried out peacefully and in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, with party delegates participating in large numbers.
In the results declared by Sani, a total of 78,085 delegates were accredited for the exercise, while 77,013 valid votes were recorded in favour of Senator Yakubu Danmarke, who is also referred to in some reports as Yakubu Lado.The remaining 72 delegates were unable to cast their votes.Based on the majority of votes secured, the candidate was declared winner of what was described as a consensus primary election.
The announcement was met with excitement and jubilation from party members and supporters who gathered at the venue, celebrating what they described as a smooth and transparent process.With this outcome, the PDP now has its flag bearer for the Katsina State governorship contest scheduled for 2027.
The party leadership expressed confidence that the candidate emerging from the primary will represent the party strongly in the upcoming election cycle.
The development marks an important step in PDP’s preparation for the governorship race as political activities gradually build up across the state ahead of 2027.
