Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has refused to engage in a debate with Minister of Works Dave Umahi.

During an interview with Jude Chidenowo, Obi stated that there's no basis for the debate since he initiated the conversation by complaining about damaged Nigerian roads.Umahi responded by starting repairs on the specific road Obi mentioned.Obi emphasized that if Umahi wants another debate, he must first become a presidential candidate.This comes after Umahi accused Obi of attacking his integrity and governance knowledge, claiming he mocked the road situation for political gain.

Obi, however, argued that resources should prioritize fixing existing roads over new projects, citing the Asaba-Benin Road as a critical corridor needing urgent attention.

The debate highlights tensions between political figures over governance and infrastructure priorities, with both sides accusing each other of political maneuvering.
