Petrol pump owners across Pakistan have announced a nationwide strike following failed negotiations with the government over daily fuel pricing mechanisms.

The All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Owners Association (APPPOA) accused the government of ignoring their longstanding demands for monthly pricing and frozen commission increases.

Chairman Humayun Khan highlighted severe financial challenges faced by dealers due to daily pricing, which he claims benefits oil marketing companies by allowing delayed deliveries.The strike, set to begin Wednesday, will affect 15,000 pumps.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) is considering a strike after meetings with Ogra, which acknowledged the hasty decision to implement daily pricing.The government defended the change as a move toward transparency, but dealers argue it destabilizes their businesses.The dispute underscores tensions between private stakeholders and policymakers in managing fuel prices.
