Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that examination paper leaks are a serious concern affecting lakhs of students and their families, and assured the country that the Union government will introduce stronger legal measures to deal with such offences.

In a self-recorded video message shared on X, he stated that paper leaks are not ordinary incidents and acknowledged the emotional and academic hardship caused to students.

Modi said that a draft Bill proposing Fast-Track Courts and stringent punishments for those involved in paper leak cases would be placed before the Union Cabinet for discussion.

He added that after incorporating the Cabinet's suggestions, the government would seek to introduce and pass the legislation in Parliament at the earliest opportunity.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the steps already taken following the NEET-UG 2026 examination controversy, saying that several accused persons had been arrested and were currently in jail.According to him, the government's immediate priority was to ensure that students did not lose an academic year.

He noted that examinations for around 22 lakh students were conducted again within a short period and that the results had already been declared, allowing successful candidates to continue with their academic plans.

Alongside the issue of examination reforms, Modi also appealed to activist Sonam Wangchuk to follow medical advice and recover his health after ending his 26-day hunger strike.

While Wangchuk called off his fast after discussions with the Centre, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which has been leading protests over the NEET issue, said its agitation would continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
