Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all ministries and departments to revisit the intended beneficiaries of government reforms, namely citizens and businesses, to evaluate their real-world impact.
Speaking at a recent Council of Ministers meeting, he emphasised that reforms should not remain limited to administrative notifications but must be assessed for their effectiveness in improving people’s lives and business operations.
He urged ministers and senior bureaucrats to actively seek feedback from stakeholders to determine whether policy changes have achieved their intended outcomes.
According to officials present in the meeting, several departments presented updates on reforms undertaken over the past two years, following which the Prime Minister stressed the need for deeper evaluation of results rather than just implementation.
PM Modi further highlighted that while major structural reforms have largely been completed, the current focus should shift towards refining processes and addressing operational inefficiencies across departments.Ministries have been instructed to engage in detailed consultations with stakeholders to identify gaps and new areas for improvement.
The Prime Minister also emphasised strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms, including appointing dedicated officials to handle public complaints efficiently.
Additionally, he raised concern over the increasing burden of litigation involving the government and instructed departments to take steps to reduce unnecessary court cases and arbitration disputes.
