The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) led by Chief Major General Anthony Aberin conducted inspections along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City as part of preparations for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2026.

The operation involved personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO), and local government units to ensure security during planned protests on SONA Day.

Police spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo explained that the walkthrough aims to secure traffic lanes for commuters while allowing protest groups to use designated areas.A zipper lane system with steel barriers will be implemented to prevent obstruction by rallyists.

Over 20,000 police officers are deployed for security, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed readiness for contingencies.Permits were granted to three protest groups, with specific areas designated for rallies.

The SONA, a constitutional obligation under Article VII Section 23 of the 1987 Constitution, serves as both a political event and a report on national conditions.
