Police from Limuru faced challenges on Friday while trying to book an unidentified body at Tigoni mortuary in Kiambu County.After picking up the body around 1am in Kamandura along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, officers were denied entry by the mortuary management, which stated they don’t accept unidentified bodies.The police then transported the body to Nairobi City Mortuary, only to be told it wasn’t accepting bodies from outside Nairobi County.They were forced to return the body to Kiambu, where a confrontation with hospital staff occurred before the body was finally accepted.Limuru Sub-County Police Commander Mary Gachie described the incident as unfortunate, noting it took over nine hours to resolve.She emphasized the need for better coordination between police and health facilities.Local leaders also called for clear guidelines to prevent such issues.The body is believed to belong to a young person who was tortured, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.This incident highlights systemic challenges in handling unidentified bodies and inter-agency cooperation.
