Investigations underway after two explosive devices detonate at Woolworths stores in Pretoria and Bloemfontein
South African police have launched an intensive manhunt after armed suspects allegedly invaded the home of former Cabinet Minister Dr Naledi Pandor on Friday night.
According to national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the suspects entered the property, held occupants at gunpoint and stole valuables before fleeing the scene. No serious injuries were reported during the incident, but authorities described the robbery as a serious and traumatic crime.
Lieutenant General Dimpane, the newly appointed acting national police commissioner, instructed officers to prioritise the investigation and track down those responsible.Police teams are reportedly working continuously to identify and arrest the suspects linked to the robbery.
The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major General Samuel Thine, is also expected to visit the Pandor family to provide updates on the progress of the investigation and discuss policing measures aimed at reducing housebreaking and property-related crimes.
Police noted that national crime statistics recorded a decline in housebreaking incidents between January and March this year, although authorities acknowledged that such crimes remain a major concern across South Africa. The acting commissioner emphasised that combating violent property crimes continues to be a key focus for the South African Police Service. In a separate matter, Lieutenant General Dimpane also expressed concern over the discovery of a murdered couple inside the Kruger National Park.
Their vehicle remains missing, and police in Limpopo, together with park authorities and specialised investigators, have been instructed to urgently locate the suspects and recover the vehicle.
