Melbourne teenager pleads guilty to fatal crash and violent assault causing lifelong injury
Queensland police are searching for a known child sex offender whose current whereabouts are unknown after he failed to comply with mandatory reporting requirements.Authorities have identified the man as Laurence Golding, who is also known as Lawerence John Wiggins.
Officers were unable to locate him at his last known address and confirmed that he had not provided required updates, which can include details about travel, personal circumstances, or any contact with children.
As a result, Golding’s information has been published on the Daniel’s Law public register, a database introduced to enhance community awareness and child protection.
Acting Detective Superintendent Stephen Blanchfield said the release of Golding’s image, name and birth year was done in accordance with legislation and is intended to help the public make informed decisions where there is a legitimate safety concern.
Police have stressed that while Golding is being sought for failing to meet reporting obligations, there is no suggestion he has committed further offences.Members of the public are urged not to approach him if sighted, but instead to report any information to authorities immediately.
Officials also warned that information from the register must not be used to harass or intimidate individuals, noting that misuse could result in criminal charges.
The Daniel’s Law system, named after Daniel Morcombe, was launched at the end of 2025 and allows residents to search for offenders who have breached reporting rules or are located near a specific area.
Recent enforcement actions show the system is already being used, with two offenders charged earlier in 2026 after community reports revealed breaches.Police continue to encourage the public to report concerns via Policelink or emergency services when necessary.
