President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.has vowed to proceed with the long-delayed first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections on September 14, 2026, despite legal hurdles.

The Supreme Court's rejection of previous redistricting laws rendered the original October 2025 schedule invalid, prompting Marcos to sign legislation resetting the election date.In a speech at an event in Maguindanao del Norte, he emphasized the importance of ensuring a credible and inclusive electoral process.The elections, originally slated for May 2022, faced multiple postponements, including after the court's rulings on districting laws.Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, voters will elect representatives across various categories, with terms beginning October 30, 2026.

Marcos also highlighted efforts to support Muslim communities through initiatives like the Iftar Program and social services for over 45,000 beneficiaries.The government remains committed to preserving cultural traditions while advancing political stability in the region.
