Tanzania and Serbia deepen cooperation in trade, investment and development talks
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to make an official state visit to Russia from June 3 to 5, 2026, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the report, this will be her first visit to Russia since becoming president and only the second visit by a Tanzanian head of state to Moscow since Mwalimu Julius Nyerere's trip in 1969.
During the visit, President Samia and President Putin are expected to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, education, science and technology, energy, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism.
The visit comes at a time when Tanzania is facing significant diplomatic pressure from Western partners following the disputed 2025 general election and allegations of violence and human rights abuses.
