Producers United, an advocacy organization representing approximately 300 film and television producers, has expanded its legal and labor expertise by bringing on renowned entertainment litigator Bonnie Eskenazi and labor and employment attorney Allyson L.Belovin.
The group, whose members include prominent producers such as Jonathan Wang, Barbara Broccoli, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Cathy Schulman, was formed to protect and advance the interests of career producers in an industry undergoing significant economic and structural changes.
Since its launch three years ago, Producers United has focused on highlighting the role of producers who develop projects, oversee production, and ensure that films and television programs are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The organization argues that these professionals have faced declining compensation, shrinking opportunities, and increasing competition for producer credits from individuals who may not perform traditional producing responsibilities.Although the group is not currently pursuing unionization, it has indicated that it remains open to exploring that option in the future.
The addition of Eskenazi and Belovin signals a stronger commitment to addressing industry-wide issues such as compensation models, healthcare contributions, credit allocation, and the long-term sustainability of producing careers.
Eskenazi, a partner at Greenberg Glusker LLP and a respected entertainment attorney, brings extensive experience in litigation involving royalties, contracts, intellectual property, and emerging media issues.
Belovin, a partner at Levy Ratner, specializes in labor and employment law and has represented unions and workers across multiple sectors, including entertainment and media.
Producers United stated that the attorneys’ combined expertise will strengthen its efforts to pursue meaningful reforms and ensure that career producers receive appropriate recognition, protection, and compensation within Hollywood.
