Punjab Police Books 11 Officers, Including SHO, for Unlawful Raid on AGP Awan's Lahore Home

Punjab police have booked at least 11 officers, including a station house officer (SHO), for conducting an unlawful raid on the Lahore residence of Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan.

The operation, which was based on incorrect information about a neighboring property, led to the charge-sheeting of the SHO of Sarwar Road police station and 11 personnel.

AGP Awan's driver, Irfan, alleged that the police entered the residence without authorization, damaged property, and deleted CCTV footage from the digital video recorder (DVR).He claimed that AGP Awan was not present during the raid but arrived later after being informed. The police stated that the raid was a result of exceeding authority, and the SHO has obtained interim bail.

The incident highlights issues of accountability and misuse of power by law enforcement, raising concerns about the treatment of high-profile individuals and the need for transparency in such operations.
