An eight-month-old Labrador puppy named Loki experienced a life-threatening emergency when his bladder ruptured, causing urine to leak into his abdomen.

His owners, newlyweds Alex and Katja Meyer-French, were on honeymoon in Crete when their pet sitter rushed Loki to Hampden Veterinary Hospital in Aylesbury.

Upon arrival, veterinary team Callum Evans and Kirsty Stratfull discovered the severe condition through exploratory surgery, finding fluid accumulation and a ruptured bladder.The procedure took three hours, involving meticulous repairs with two lines of stitches to seal the bladder and flushing out the abdominal urine.Loki required round-the-clock care for three days before making a full recovery.The veterinarians noted that bladder ruptures are rare and often occur without prior trauma or symptoms.The incident underscores the importance of immediate veterinary intervention for pets showing signs of distress.Loki, now back with his owners, has returned to his energetic self, highlighting the critical role of veterinary care in emergency situations.
