First Lady Rachel Ruto visited Karen C Comprehensive School in Nairobi, where she met learners and spoke to them about the value of education, discipline and hard work in achieving their goals.During the visit, she encouraged pupils to remain focused on their studies and develop positive character traits that can help them succeed in life.As part of the Provision Pillar under The Voice of Children Initiative, Rachel Ruto donated a pair of shoes to each of the school's 1,665 pupils.She explained that the donation was intended not only to meet a practical need but also to support the dignity and confidence of children.
According to her remarks, shoes symbolise more than a basic necessity because they help children feel valued and better prepared to pursue their future ambitions.
The First Lady noted that many children face challenges that can affect their educational experience, and initiatives that provide essential items can contribute to improving their welfare and school participation.She emphasised that every child deserves an opportunity to learn in a supportive environment and to reach their full potential.
Rachel Ruto further stated that her office remains committed to supporting programmes that promote children's well-being, improve access to education and create opportunities for young learners across the country.
