Rapid Action Force (RAF) officer Sonia Sehrawat has come under public scrutiny following allegations that she shared an Instagram story appearing to mock protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).According to reports, the now-deleted story contained a reel with the caption, “Can’t fix themselves and they wanna fix the country.” Hindustan Times stated that it could not independently verify the authenticity of the alleged post.

The screenshot nevertheless went viral on social media, prompting criticism from CJP leaders and supporters, who accused Sehrawat of insulting peaceful demonstrators and justifying the police action during the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' march at Jantar Mantar.The controversy was further amplified after Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra shared the alleged screenshot on X and criticised the officer.

During the protest, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke had directly questioned Sehrawat over allegations that security personnel used excessive force against women protesters.While criticising the police response, Dipke also acknowledged that Sehrawat listened patiently to his concerns.

Responding to the allegations, Sehrawat denied that RAF personnel under her command assaulted any protesters, stating that her team is trained to protect women.

She said the injuries occurred after a crowd surge created a stampede-like situation and maintained that the protesters themselves pushed women to the front.

Sehrawat also claimed that she and several RAF personnel were injured after stones and other objects were thrown, and that one jawan was dragged into the crowd.She said the force acted only in self-defence while prioritising the safety of women and minors present at the protest.

Sehrawat serves as an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF's Rapid Action Force and has a significant social media following, where she regularly posts fitness, dance and personal content.
