Nigerian Stock Market Rebounds With Key Stocks Surging Over 15%
Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has signed a landmark 16-year gas supply agreement with Indorama Fertiliser FZE, securing a steady feedstock for one of Nigeria's largest fertilizer producers.
The deal, signed in Abuja, commits Renaissance to deliver up to 60 million standard cubic feet of gas daily to Indorama Fertiliser, a unit of Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited. This long-term arrangement is pivotal as Nigeria seeks to redirect more gas output toward domestic industry rather than exports.
The gas will be sourced from the ANOH processing plant, a key project under Nigeria's Decade of Gas initiative aimed at boosting industrialization through local gas use.
The agreement underscores collaboration between Nigerian and international players to enhance food security, agricultural productivity, and economic growth. For Indorama, the deal ensures reliable supply amid rising regional demand for fertilizers, which are critical for ammonia and urea production. Both companies highlighted the importance of stable gas access in reducing downtime and supporting sustainable operations.
The partnership also aligns with Nigeria's efforts to develop its vast gas reserves, addressing historical issues of flaring and underutilization due to infrastructure gaps. This deal is expected to strengthen crop yields and food security across Africa, where fertilizer access remains uneven for smallholder farmers.
