Bishop Dr Glorius Shoo, a retired religious leader from Tanzania, has warned that the nation is facing a profound crisis of hope driven by political deception and exclusion.

In an exclusive interview with The Chanzo, he criticized the government's reliance on threats rather than solutions, highlighting the dismantling of political opposition and systemic failures in accountability.

Shoo linked the violence during the October 2025 elections to broader leadership issues, arguing that citizens are losing faith in state institutions and the judiciary.

He emphasized that the government's refusal to engage with dissenting voices has created a dangerous environment, resulting in a parliament dominated by one party and a lack of genuine accountability.Shoo also called for the release of detained opposition leader Tundu Lissu, stating that his detention undermines national balance.

The retired bishop urged President Samia Suluhu Hassan to take decisive action to restore cohesion, including condemning actions that violate democratic governance.He warned that losing hope could lead to desperate measures and stressed the need for leaders to replace threats with solutions.
