Dan Harmon, co-creator of Rick and Morty, has confirmed that the animated series' first feature film is in development.The project, which had been speculated about for years, is currently in the script-writing phase with plans to proceed to production.Harmon revealed that the film will be produced using Ruby on Rails technology and is scheduled for release next summer.Longtime director Jacob Hair is set to helm the film, allowing for simultaneous development with the ongoing ninth season of the TV series.This approach simplifies production since animated content does not require scheduling live-action actors.The main series is nearing the end of its ninth season, with its finale airing on Adult Swim in the US and NOW/HBO Max in the UK.The spin-off President Curtis is set to premiere immediately after the finale.Harmon also mentioned that the main series has been renewed for seasons 10 to 12, ensuring its continuation until at least 2029.
