Pastors Leverage Social Media for Ministry and Branding
Nollywood actress and content creator Sarah Martins has explained why she chooses not to pay tithe, saying she believes the money can make a bigger difference when it is used to help people in need directly.
During a recent interview, Martins said she would rather feed hungry people and empower those who have nobody to support them than contribute money to what she described as billionaire pastors.According to her, the charity work she does is her own way of giving back and fulfilling what she believes tithe should achieve.She also spoke about her regular acts of kindness, revealing that she has personally cooked food for as many as 1,000 people using her own money.
Martins added that she prepared the meals herself and sees helping vulnerable people as a responsibility that comes with the blessings she has received.While describing her relationship with those she assists, she said they see her as a source of hope because she shares her blessings with them.Beyond discussing charity, the actress opened up about her career and finances.She disclosed that the highest income she has made in a single month was ₦40 million.She also revealed spending as much as ₦15 million to produce one of her movies, although the project failed to recover its production cost.
Martins, who began acting in 2016 and now produces Nollywood films through her YouTube channel, maintained that genuine love is shown by giving to people who cannot repay the kindness.Her comments have sparked conversations online about tithing, charity and the role of religious giving.
