The Senate impeachment court has formally ordered Vice President Sara Duterte, or her legal counsel, to appear at the opening of her impeachment trial scheduled on July 6, 2026.

The directive was issued through a notice dated July 2, informing Duterte’s legal team from Fortun Narvasa & Salazar that the proceedings will begin at 2 pm at the Senate Session Hall in Pasay City.

The order cites Rule VI of the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials as well as a writ of summons issued earlier on May 19, reinforcing the requirement for her appearance before the impeachment court.The Senate stated that Duterte is required to attend either in person or through her counsel during the formal commencement of the trial.

The notice also emphasized that she must “appear before the Senate of the Philippines upon notice” and comply with any orders, directions, and judgments that the impeachment court may issue in accordance with Philippine law and the Constitution.
