Seun Onigbinde, co-founder of BudgIT, has criticized the Federal Government's budgeting process under President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the administration doesn't truly believe in the budgets it presents to the National Assembly.

He highlighted a significant revenue shortfall, noting the government faces challenges in managing ₦17 trillion for debt servicing, ₦7 trillion for salaries, and other expenses like pensions and statutory transfers.Onigbinde emphasized that the government's minimum required funds for operations and recurring costs exceed ₦30 trillion, which it lacks.He called for greater transparency in budgeting, citing the 2026 Appropriation Bill approved in April 2026, which allocated ₦68.32 trillion.The criticism underscores concerns about fiscal management and the disconnect between budget projections and actual financial capacity.

Onigbinde's remarks reflect broader debates about governance, accountability, and the feasibility of Nigeria's fiscal policies under the current administration.
