Sofía Vergara Advocates Preventive Health Care While Supporting Her Mother’s Well-Being

Actress Sofía Vergara has spoken about her commitment to helping her mother maintain good health and her own desire to live a long and healthy life.In a recent interview, the 53-year-old star explained that she acts as a health advocate for her mother, Margarita, who is in her 70s and lives with high blood pressure.

Vergara said she regularly encourages her mother to monitor her condition and follow medical advice, even though the conversations can sometimes be difficult because her mother can be stubborn about health matters.

The topic is especially important to Vergara because several members of her family have experienced health issues related to hypertension and diabetes.

Although she does not currently have high blood pressure herself, she remains attentive to her health due to her family history and believes that understanding personal risk factors is essential for preventing future complications.

Vergara is currently collaborating with Boehringer Ingelheim on the Detect the SOS campaign, an initiative designed to raise awareness about the dangers associated with high blood pressure and diabetes.

The campaign emphasizes the importance of regular health screenings and encourages people to ask questions about their health and seek medical guidance when necessary. She also noted that these conditions affect many people in Latino communities, making the campaign particularly meaningful to her.Looking toward the future, Vergara said she hopes both she and her mother can enjoy long, healthy lives.

Inspired in part by a relative who lived to 106, she shared that her personal goal is to reach the age of 100 while maintaining her health, appearance, and overall quality of life.

Good on her for pushing preventive care. Too many ppl wait until serious problems show up instead of staying on top of screenings and risk factors. Hypertension and diabetes hit working-class communities hard. Better access to healthcare, education, and early intervention can save lives and improve quality of life.
