The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has banned several wedding customs, including marriage introduction gifts and DJ music at ceremonies.The ban aims to align practices with Islamic teachings and societal morals.

Commander Malam Usman Abdullahi Jatau explained that these innovations (bid'ah) contradict the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and could lead to financial hardship, theft, and other unlawful acts during weddings.
