South African luxury fashion house MaXhosa Africa has made history by securing its first official runway show at Paris Fashion Week (PFW), marking a landmark achievement for African designers.
Founded by Laduma Ngxokolo, the brand has spent 16 years building its reputation in Paris, culminating in its inclusion in the official PFW schedule for the spring/summer 2027 women’s ready-to-wear season.
This milestone comes after previous participation in auxiliary shows and stationary presentations, but this is the first time a South African designer has been invited to a runway show in the official PFW program.
Ngxokolo emphasized that the collection represents recognition of the brand’s journey and confidence in its future, with 60 strong looks designed to showcase African luxury on a global stage.The show will feature a South African-themed set design, blending cultural aesthetics with modern innovation.
Despite challenges like rising production costs and currency fluctuations, the brand remains committed to sustainability while expanding its global influence.This moment underscores the growing prominence of African fashion and the importance of cultural storytelling in the industry.
