Stakeholders from different sectors have held a meeting focused on finding solutions to restore public trust in the police force, as concern continues to grow over weakening relations between law enforcement officers and the public.
The forum discussed how years of complaints, incidents, and dissatisfaction have contributed to low confidence in police services in many communities across the country.
Participants agreed that rebuilding trust will need a wide and practical approach that deals with both institutional challenges and everyday interactions between police officers and citizens.
One of the main recommendations was the need for deep police reforms, including better training that focuses on community policing, human rights awareness, and professional behaviour.
It was noted that officers should be equipped not only with technical skills but also with strong communication and emotional intelligence to better serve diverse communities. The stakeholders also emphasized strengthening accountability systems within the police force.
They called for improved oversight bodies and transparent disciplinary procedures to ensure that misconduct is properly addressed and punished, helping to improve public confidence.
Another key point was improving communication between police and communities through regular dialogue platforms where citizens can share concerns and take part in local safety planning.
The forum also highlighted the importance of better working conditions for police officers, including proper equipment, fair pay, and mental health support, to help them perform effectively.
Modern technology such as body cameras, digital complaint systems, and data-driven policing was also recommended to improve transparency and efficiency.
Additionally, stakeholders encouraged more community-oriented and proactive policing, as well as recruitment processes that reflect the diversity of society.
The meeting ended with a commitment to follow up on these proposals through concrete actions aimed at long-term improvement of police-community relations.
