A plantation drive was organised in Hallikhed (B) of Humnabad taluk in Bidar district on July 16, 2026, as part of an environmental awareness programme initiated by Bidar Parisara Vahini.

The event, held in collaboration with Saraswati Higher Primary and High School, involved school students participating in tree planting activities and learning about environmental conservation.Shailendra Kavadi, president of Bidar Parisara Vahini, highlighted the organisation's efforts to engage students in sustainability initiatives.

Humnabad Tahsildar Jagadish Chour emphasised sustainable development through harmony with nature, urging farmers to plant fruit-bearing trees to reduce human-wildlife conflict.Shankarananda Mahaswami of Chalkapur Siddharoodha mutt stressed the importance of introducing environmental education at the primary level.

Social Forestry Officer Prakash Nippani advised farmers to utilise government agroforestry schemes, while Assistant Director of Agriculture Sharan Kumar called for tree planting to prevent soil erosion.

Rajasekhar Basanayak from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bidar noted that involving students in plantation drives effectively promotes environmental awareness and encourages farmers to seek technical support from KVK.The initiative aims to spread environmental consciousness across schools in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
